We discuss tau identification techniques at hadron colliders, and present the measurements and the searches performed so far. We report on the first evidence of ttbar production in the channel containing one hadronically decaying tau lepton. We also present a search for the charged Higgs boson in the tau decay channel, as well as for the leptoquark family containing tau leptons. In addition, we underline the importance of tau physics both at present and future collider experiments.
